| History Chicago is the birthplace of many great thinkers including Dr. Carl Rogers who is one of the great psychological genius’s of the 20th century. While at the University of Chicago in the 1940’s through the 1970’s, Carl Rogers developed and elaborated Client-Centered Therapy. In 1971 Dr. Rogers and others began the Chicago Counseling and Psychotherapy Center (CCPC), a non-profit, private psychotherapy practice and graduate student training center in Hyde Park. In 1987 Dr. Rogers was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in South Africa, the former Soviet Union, Northern Ireland and Poland. The New Center adds to this history by beginning the next chapter of Client-Centered Therapy in Chicago and following in the footsteps of Dr. Rogers and CCPC. |
